True Love!!

February..., when we think of this month the first things which comes to our mind is Love, Hearts, Red etc..
I thought of digging little on what Bible says about Love(not the romantic or sexual love). The first verse came to my mind is from book of John 13 Jesus says,"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." Here He says very clearly, love others as I love you. So how He loves us?

God's Love

God's Love, a love which is of and from God, whose very nature is love itself. Apostle John affirms this in 1 John 4:8: “God is love.” God does not merely love; He is love itself.
John 3:16 gives the message of the greatest love, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Without unconditional love no one can give their only son as living sacrifice.
Christ’s love is shown in His leaving His home in heaven(John1:1-14), where He was worshipped and honored as He deserved, to come to earth as a man where He would be mocked, betrayed, beaten, and crucified on a cross to pay the penalty for our sin, rising again from the dead on the third day.

This love which He demonstrated toward us on the cross is just the beginning. When we place our trust in Him as our Savior, He makes us His children, co-heirs with Him. He comes to dwell within us through His Holy Spirit, promising that He will never leave us or forsake us as said in book of Hebrews 13. We have a loving companion for life.

Love, as I loved

Understanding His love, an unconditional pure love. Lord expects us to love others as He loved us. We are to love others sacrificially. Sacrificial love is not based on a feeling, but a determined act of the will, a joyful resolve to put the welfare of others above our own. But this type of love does not come naturally to humans. Because of our fallen nature, we are incapable of producing such a love. If we are to love as God loves, that love can only come from its true Source.Book of Romans says in Chapte 5:5, This is the love which has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us, when we became His children. Through His love, we are now able to love one another.

To love is divine. To love is of God. To love is the true mark of a Christian.
